Student Safety
*Students are not to arrive at school before 7:35 unless they are participating in a supervised school activity. There is no adult supervision available until 7:35 am.
*Students are not allowed to play on the school playground or fields before school.
*Students who are not walking home need to be picked up promptly when school is dismissed. The school office does not have the facilities or personnel available to supervise children after school.
*Students who are dropped off early or left over after school hours may be placed in the BASE Program and charged a fee.

Safety Tips for Parents
Please help us keep your children safe. We instruct students to use the crosswalks when crossing the street by the school. Please model this behavior when you are walking with your student . If you are in your car, please do not beckon to children since they often do not use good judgment and race across the street towards you between parked cars and through traffic.

Students should not be crossing the staff parking lot before and after school as the buses are entering and leaving that area. Please instruct students to stay on the sidewalks at all times when near the parking lot.

Please Leave Dogs (and other pets) at Home

Our playground and grassy areas have had dog waste on them on occasion. Since children are playing on these areas, we are asking that dogs be kept at home when you are picking up or delivering students. We also ask that dogs not be brought into the school or onto the grounds. Sixty percent of dog bite victims are children. Even the most friendly dogs can bite if provoked or are stressed or excited, which can happen in an unfamiliar environment such as a school. Children fare the worst in a dog attack, because they are more often bitten on the face, neck and head. These bites can cause wounds that leave permanent scars. Please help us keep our environment clean and safe for our students.

Communication

Glacier Peak Grizzly Gazette Newsletter is sent home to families on a monthly basis.

On occasion, it may be necessary to send home other notes and memos. Please ask your student each day if there are any notices you should see.

Students will not be allowed to use the phone to make after school social arrangements. Students will be allowed to use the phone only in the following situations:

*When requested by their teacher

*When requested by an administrator

*When requested by health aide, nurse or office
staff

EMERGENCY messages will only be delivered to students. Please assist us by making arrangements for after school pick up and daycare prior to your child leaving for school in the morning.
