Text Box: 	I hope you all had a wonderful winter break!    
	This month in math, we will be finishing up Unit 6 - using data; addition and subtraction of fractions. The purpose of the unit is for students to display data with line plots, line graphs, and circle graphs. Students will revisit adding and subtracting fraction then later extend the idea that every fraction has many equivalent names to finding common denominators. We’ll also begin Text Box: Unit 7—There are three main lesson in this unit: exponents, rules of order of operations, and negative numbers. 	
	In writing, we will start our unit on persuasive writing.  Each student will pick a topic that is near and dear to them. They will be researching the subject while taking notes and learning how to paraphrase.  Then they write about their opinion on the topic and try to persuade or convince others to believe or act as they Text Box: want. Be sure to ask your child about what they are writing, it’s important for them to share and be proud of what they’ve written.  
	At Home Reading is our nightly reading homework.  Students are required to read for at least 20 minutes.  	Math homework will go home most nights as a review from the day’s lesson. 
	In reading, our new topic is Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea where we’ll learn about how deep-sea creatures adapt to their environment.
