Mrs. Marsh's Class
Hello Fourth Graders!
Welcome to our class page! This is probably the first time you're seeing it because, well, I'm just learning how to update and work with this page! As we navigate this interesting time in our history, just like you, I'm learning new things. I hope you're all doing well and staying healthy. I know that this is a crazy time. You're probably getting really antsy and wishing you could get out and about! My family is feeling the same way. We're trying to stay active and busy. Hopefully this will all be over soon!
A little bit about this page and remote learning moving forward...
This will be the hub from which you will be learning during this remote learning period, so you will want to bookmark it and start from here each day when you "go to school." I will update the page at least once a week on Mondays, but will probably add things here and there as the are relevant during the week. The link to our Google Classroom is located in the "Important Links" article at the bottom of the page. Be sure to also check out the class events because I hope to do a twice a week connection circle via Zoom with you guys.
During this time, you will be doing a lot of your work independently. I will give you plenty of time to get assignments done, and will hold daily office hours when I'll be available to answer questions and give clarification.
Attendance will be taken based on work completion on a weekly basis. I would hope and expect that you will log in each day to maintain some sort of a routine and stay on top of your work. I know that all your days may not have a typical routine like you would if you were coming to school. You and a sibling may have to share a device, or you may have other chores and things to do. So you will all be logging in and working on things at different times that work for your family.
It's a good idea to try and set a schedule of some kind when you will be doing your school work. You will also want to set up a school area where you have all your materials and where you won't be distracted by things going on around you. This will help you to get into school mode and stay focused on your work.
Each day, I will have "office hours" when I will be available for questions and clarification. During these times, I will open up a Google Chat window, and will be standing by for questions that you can ask there. Of course you can always email me or send me messages on Class Dojo as well. In addition, we will have Zoom meetings twice a week for a connection circle and to say hello, ask questions, and chat.
Office Hours: Monday and Wednesday: 8:00-9:00 a.m., 2:00-3:00 p.m., with a Zoom meeting on Mondays at 2:30; Tuesday and Thursday: 10:00-12:00 with a Zoom meeting on Thursdays at 11:30; Friday 8:00-9:00 a.m., 1:00-2:00 p.m.
I know that this is all pretty overwhelming. I'm here for you! We will go slow and figure this all out together! Talk to you soon!
